STRESS

Stress is a feeling of emotional and physical tension. It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Stress is your body's reaction to a challenge or demand. In short bursts, stress can be positive, such as when it helps you avoid danger or meet a deadline. But when stress lasts for a long time, it may harm your health.

Stress is caused by an existing stress-causing factor or "stressor". Anxiety is stress that continues after the stressor is gone. Stress is a normal feeling until it becomes anxiety and starts harming you. There are two main types of stress:

  1. Acute Stress - This is short-term stress that goes away quickly. You feel it when you slam on the brakes, have a fight with your partner, or ski down a steep slope. It helps you manage dangerous situations. It also occurs when you something new or exciting. All people have acute stress at one time or another.
  2. Chronic Stress - This is stress that lasts for a longer period of time. You may have chronic stress of you have money problems, an unhappy marriage, or trouble at work. Any type of stress that goes on for weeks or months is chronic stress. You can become so used to chronic stress that you don't realise it is a problem. If you don't find ways to manage stress, it may lead to health problems.
Your body reacts to stress by realising hormones. These hormones make your brain more alert, cause your muscles to tense, and increase your pulse. In the short term, these reactions are good because they can help you handle the situation causing stress. This is your body's way of protecting itself.

Stress has a direct connection to all types of heart problems. Stress management is a very important factor to stay away from problems like heart attacks. We've heard and seen young people dying of heart attack. And the reason behind heart attacks has always been stress. Anyone can have stress. Nowadays companies put a lot of workload on the employees due to which they get trapped with stress. We all thought that work from home would be easy but it is more difficult than going to the office. Earlier there were 9-5 jobs but due to work from home you may have to work without looking at the clock. And because of this the sleeping pattern of the people is getting deteriorating due to which they may get stressed.

When you have chronic stress, your body stays alert, even though there is no danger. Over time, this puts you at risk for health problems, including:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart diseases
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Skin problems like acne
If you already have a health condition, chronic stress can make it worse.

Stress is nothing but a game that is played with your brain. And to avoid that game, all you have to do is, just RELAX! Keep your professional life aside and do what you love to do sometimes. Do what makes you happy and a joyful person. Enjoy each and every bit of your life. Just keep a positive attitude. Accept that there are few events in the society or universe that you cannot control; so just let it go. Be assertive instead of aggressive. Assert your feelings, opinions, or beliefs instead of becoming angry, defensive, or passive. You know, there are few diseases that medicines or treatments cannot cure. You will feel stressed but note that your family or that one friend will never let you drown in stress. If you ever get stressed, talk to your family and friend before you consult a doctor. It can help you more than the doctor could.
